At Bloom, we believe food is more than just nutrition—it’s a tool for connection, exploration, and joy. For kids, food therapy can help build confidence, reduce anxiety around meals, and create positive experiences with eating.
Here are our favourite foods introduced in therapy sessions so far in 2025:
Mango
Mango is a naturally sweet and juicy fruit that’s always a hit with kids. It’s fun to eat and packed with vitamins that support growth and development. We love serving mango in different ways—fresh, blended into smoothies, or even frozen for a refreshing snack
Risotto
Risotto is the ultimate comfort food, and a household staple for some. This risotto was made with pumpkin, adding a gentle pop of flavor and extra nutrition. Stirring the risotto while it cooks is also a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen, helping them feel more connected to their food.
Pizza
Pizza is always a winner! It’s endlessly customisable, making it a great way to introduce new ingredients in a low-pressure setting. Pizza may not be top of mind when you think about food therapy, but it was requested as an easy option for holidays and family outings.
Carrots
Carrots are naturally sweet and crunchy, making them a great vegetable for kids to explore. They can be enjoyed raw, roasted, or blended into soups for a smoother texture. These carrots sticks are a goal for future lunch box foods and healthy home snacks.
Strawberries
Strawberries bring natural sweetness to any meal or snack. Strawberries are also an excellent source of vitamin C! Whether eaten fresh, dipped in yogurt, or blended into a smoothie, strawberries are a delicious and nutritious way to explore new flavours.
Food therapy helps kids build confidence with eating by making mealtimes positive, fun, and engaging. These foods are not only nutritious but also offer exciting textures, flavors, and opportunities. By introducing new foods in manageable steps with plenty of positive reinforcement, our learners can find their new favorite foods.
